Muesli by Tarla Dalal

This fruit and oat porridge with low fat milk makes a hearty and high fibre breakfast that helps to keep a close check on blood cholesterol levels. Have this daily and make a great beginning everyday.
Preparation Time: 5 mins.
Cooking Time: 10 mins.
Makes 3 1/2 cups.

2 cups corn flakes
1 cup quick cooking rolled oats
4 tbsp wheat bran
1/4 tsp vanilla essence
3 tbsp sultanas (kishmish)

For serving
low fat milk
a few pieces of chopped apples


  1. Combine the oats and wheat bran and lightly toast them in a non-stick pan over a slow flame for 5 to 7 minutes.
  2. Cool completely, add the cornflakes, vanilla essence and sultanas. Mix well.
  3. Store in an air-tight container.
  4. For serving, place ¼ of the muesli into an individual bowl with the apples and pour the milk on top.
  5. Serve immediately
