What is so special about me?

“What’s so special about me?”—That you exist, as you are, out of the infinite alternatives that could have been, including your absence.
– Shaykh Musa Furber

Surat Taha 20 : 41

AND I HAVE CHOSEN YOU FOR MYSELF – Tafsir and Gems
Ayah number 41 in my humble opinion is one of the most powerful ayaat in the qur’an. Istina means to design to customize. Allah is saying he has customized us for him. This is what you were made for, we need to understand that we were meant to serve Allah. In whatever capacity that may be serving the deen of Allah (small capacity or a huge capacity) – we were meant for that. We were made by Allah and for Allah – for his blessed mission and His task! Allah says, ‘I have manufactured you to perfection. You have come up exactly the way ‘I’ wanted. Allah (azwajjal) takes pride in His development of our being and personality.
– Tafsir of this verse by Shaykh Abdul Nasir Jangdha

♥ ♥ PLEASE REMEMBER THIS – THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT ♥ ♥
People might have a good opinion of you and people might have a bad opinion of you, none of that means anything to Allah. Allah’s opinion of you has nothing to do with people’s opinion of you. If people think you are great that is no guarantee that Allah thinks you are great. NONE!! NONE!! You are kidding yourself. If people think you are terrible… you are going to hell.. you are evil.. that is no guarantee that Allah thinks you are evil ♥ ♥ ♥  😥 Allah still has love for you. What people think of me and what people think of you MEANS NOTHING!! with Allah.. When people praise us and people condemn us we don’t let that make us think ‘O thats how Allah thinks of me’. On one hand people become delusional when people praise them, they think they are praise worthy with Allah – they become delusional – hypocrisy sets in, self righteousness sets in and they lose all ranking with Allah. Then all they get is duniya and people’s praise. And they come in front of Allah and Allah says ‘you got what you were working for – you got nothing with me’ . And on the other hand you have people who may be trying to do good but others judge them and pass verdicts on them, they start thinking ‘people think I am messed up – I must be messed up’. Who told you, you are messed up? Allah dint give up on you – You gave up on yourself. Allah says I dint judge you – I kept the doors of tawba open for you. I had the invitation open – why did you give up on me? Dont blame people, blame yourself.

Gist

Allah reminds us of how He subhanahu watala had warned us to worship Him alone and not the shaytan. How Shaytan has led people astray before and yet many fail to understand his plots. Allah sentences the criminals, the disbelievers to the hell fire to burn, something they so blatantly and arrogantly denied.
The crime and sins of the disbelievers will be exposed by the witness of their mouths, hands and feet. Allah further mentions how He could punish by erasing their eyes, paralyzing and deforming them if He subhanahu wa’ta’aala so willed.
** Regarding the 68 Ayah you will need to, have to and should study ‘detailed tafsir at linguistic miracle to really understand what it means and how profound it is – there is noway I can sum it up! Personally it blew my senses away – SubhanAllah Qur’an is so deep!**
Allah then sidetracks the accusations of the kuffar who were labeling Prophet Muhammad salallahu aleyhi wasallam as a poet. Allah simply puts it that Qur’an is a book of guidance for those who are alive. Allah gives numerous signs in the following ayahs and questions the ungratefulness of the disbelievers. But sadly the kuffar have taken up false deities as their gods who will be brought forward as an army, they will stand right by them watching their punishments without any interference – this is the ultimate humiliation that the disbelievers will face!
Prophet Muhammad salallahu aleyhi wasallam is consoled and advised to not pay attention to the speech and accusations of the disbelievers. Doesn’t the human being realize where he came from? Basically from Filth (i.e., sperm) – and yet he still makes a scene and argues against his responsibility of being grateful. The arrogance of humans have clouded their judgement. Silly humans question ” Who will bring them back to life from bones” to which Allah replies “The one who brought you to life in the first place from nothing!”. Allah is capable of anything and everything. He subhanahu wa’at’aala needs to say “be” and no matter what the command is-it is carried out.
Allah controls everything and to Him is our return.

Gist

I want to highlight a very important point before we move onto the explanation. Notice how its like Allah is directing our vision. It is almost like we are standing and our head and vision is made to move:
1. Earth is mentioned – We are made to look at the ground.
2. Sun and Moon are mentioned – We are made to look at the sky.
3. Now in this session and Verse 41 ships, sea and how Allah holds them above water is mentioned (The Ark of Nuh aleyhi salaam) – if we imagine this we would be standing straight with our vision overlooking the end of the seas.
Moving onto our gist we are told how Allah sustains ships on water surface and if He wanted he could have drowned them (notice the function of tawhid and reliance on Allah alone!). Allah tells us how it is His mercy alone which makes all kinds of transport possible
1. A small hole in the ship will sink it.
2. A small piece of ice/snow on the road can result in a car accident.
From Ayah 45-50 we are told how the disbelievers reject the truth even after having been shown so many signs and how they ridicule and question about the Day of Judgement. In return of this misbehavior Allah ensues a stern warning – a similar conclusion was witnessed in the Verse 29. A single piercing sound will extinguish them in entirety while they are still busy refusing, rejecting and disputing.
“Remember how in the 1st post about Surah Ya-sin – I mentioned the surah is divided into 3 parts? The 3rd part begins from Verse 51”
Allah tells us the trumpet will be blown and everyone will race towards Allah (whether they like it or not for judgement). The People are pushed and herded together like cattle.
The disbelievers and the evil people ask who lifted them from their “relaxing sleep”? One might question how was the grave relaxing for them? Because The Day of Judgment will be so horrific, their graves would seem relaxing. Allah replies this is the Day of Judgment and that the messengers spoke to truth!
On the Day of Judgement all accounts will be set straight. The companions of paradise will be happy and will be reclining on raised couches and eating fruits of paradise 😀 (Quickly pause here and make dua that Allah makes us from among those!). They will also be congratulated by the greeting of “Salaam = Peace” from the Merciful Lord.
In Ayah 59 the attention is switched to the people of the left hand, the people of hellfire – the evil ones. Allah calls these people criminals.
“IMPORTANT WORD ANAYLSIS – “MUJRIM” – Doesn’t just mean criminal it means, sentenced, convicted-criminal.”
Allah reminds these evil people these criminals of How He subhanahu wa’ta’aala had asked the unbelievers to not become slaves of shaytan and his system.

Ramadan Quran Memorization Challenge – Day 4

Ramadan Quran Memorization Challenge

Surah Ya-Sin (Verses 14- 27)

Names of Allah Learnt

1. Ar – Rahman – All Compassionate / The Most Merciful.

10 Arabic Words Memorized

  1. Mawta – (to) the dead.
  2. Nahnu – We.
  3. Mubinin – Clear.
  4. Mathalan – An Example.
  5. Idh – When.
  6. Inna – Indeed we.
  7. Mursaloon – (are) Messengers.
  8. Basharan – Human Beings.
  9. Qaalu – They said.
  10. Lam – not.

Gist

Allah tells us how He sent down 2 messengers and even a 3rd one to guide people and yet the people rejected, mocked and labelled the messengers as liars. Messengers in return hold their ground firmly of their role as a means of guidance to humanity from Allah. The people still reject them saying they are bad omen and if they do not stop preaching they will face a punishment (i.e., face physical harm from the misguided people). Ayah 20-25 form the core and central theme of this surah.
At a time where messengers are slandered, mocked and ridiculed. A man from a far away town comes rushing to attest that they are indeed messengers he presents to his people 3 points to support his verdict.
1.  They are Al Mursalin – They come from higher authority and are not ordinary people.
2. They do not ask for retribution or anything in return.
3. They are guided – observe their personal, family and public life.
This man reminds his people of how they should all worship the most merciful god, to whom is the ultimate return and how false dieties will be of no avail. He reminds his people to listen to him and obey the one true creator and His messengers. The people kill this man, we are told that Allah granted him paradise without any reckoning – NO HISAAB! NO KITAAB! (We learn this from the consensus of the mufassirun and detailed study of the tafsir). In the 27th verse the man who is granted paradise wishes his people knew of what he was granted and how great it is.
