Gist

Allah reminds us of how He subhanahu watala had warned us to worship Him alone and not the shaytan. How Shaytan has led people astray before and yet many fail to understand his plots. Allah sentences the criminals, the disbelievers to the hell fire to burn, something they so blatantly and arrogantly denied.
The crime and sins of the disbelievers will be exposed by the witness of their mouths, hands and feet. Allah further mentions how He could punish by erasing their eyes, paralyzing and deforming them if He subhanahu wa’ta’aala so willed.
** Regarding the 68 Ayah you will need to, have to and should study ‘detailed tafsir at linguistic miracle to really understand what it means and how profound it is – there is noway I can sum it up! Personally it blew my senses away – SubhanAllah Qur’an is so deep!**
Allah then sidetracks the accusations of the kuffar who were labeling Prophet Muhammad salallahu aleyhi wasallam as a poet. Allah simply puts it that Qur’an is a book of guidance for those who are alive. Allah gives numerous signs in the following ayahs and questions the ungratefulness of the disbelievers. But sadly the kuffar have taken up false deities as their gods who will be brought forward as an army, they will stand right by them watching their punishments without any interference – this is the ultimate humiliation that the disbelievers will face!
Prophet Muhammad salallahu aleyhi wasallam is consoled and advised to not pay attention to the speech and accusations of the disbelievers. Doesn’t the human being realize where he came from? Basically from Filth (i.e., sperm) – and yet he still makes a scene and argues against his responsibility of being grateful. The arrogance of humans have clouded their judgement. Silly humans question ” Who will bring them back to life from bones” to which Allah replies “The one who brought you to life in the first place from nothing!”. Allah is capable of anything and everything. He subhanahu wa’at’aala needs to say “be” and no matter what the command is-it is carried out.
Allah controls everything and to Him is our return.

Gist

Allah tells us how He destroyed this nation with just one shout! He sent no armies of angels because these people were so low they dint deserve it (usually Allah sends an army or a battalion of angels to destruct from the skies/heaven). They rejected every messenger that came to them. In the 31st Verse Allah addresses Quraish and tells them how He erased the previous generations. We see how history is repeating itself with Quriash, Allah says even though the previous generations were erased they will be gathered together in front of Allah in the hereafter.
Allah links it to the similitude of the dead earth and how He subhanahu wa’ta’aala brings it back to life.
In the following verses the second important theme of Surah Yasin that is the concept of tawhid is introduced. We are told how Allah has blessed us with the luxury of palms and grapevines and fruits. Nothing is possible without the facilitation of Allah. Allah is attributing glory and perfection to the One Who created pairs in everything. Allah now points out some pairs that He created like the
NIGHT – DAY
SUN – MOON
And how everything and how they function is a testimony of Allah’s ultimate and sole perfection.

10 Arabic Words Memorized

  1. Mawta – (to) the dead.
  2. Nahnu – We.
  3. Mubinin – Clear.
  4. Mathalan – An Example.
  5. Idh – When.
  6. Inna – Indeed we.
  7. Mursaloon – (are) Messengers.
  8. Basharan – Human Beings.
  9. Qaalu – They said.
  10. Lam – not.

Gist

Allah tells us how He sent down 2 messengers and even a 3rd one to guide people and yet the people rejected, mocked and labelled the messengers as liars. Messengers in return hold their ground firmly of their role as a means of guidance to humanity from Allah. The people still reject them saying they are bad omen and if they do not stop preaching they will face a punishment (i.e., face physical harm from the misguided people). Ayah 20-25 form the core and central theme of this surah.
At a time where messengers are slandered, mocked and ridiculed. A man from a far away town comes rushing to attest that they are indeed messengers he presents to his people 3 points to support his verdict.
1.  They are Al Mursalin – They come from higher authority and are not ordinary people.
2. They do not ask for retribution or anything in return.
3. They are guided – observe their personal, family and public life.
This man reminds his people of how they should all worship the most merciful god, to whom is the ultimate return and how false dieties will be of no avail. He reminds his people to listen to him and obey the one true creator and His messengers. The people kill this man, we are told that Allah granted him paradise without any reckoning – NO HISAAB! NO KITAAB! (We learn this from the consensus of the mufassirun and detailed study of the tafsir). In the 27th verse the man who is granted paradise wishes his people knew of what he was granted and how great it is.

Ramadan Quran Memorization Challenge – Day 3

Ramadan Quran Memorization Challenge

Surah Ya-Sin (Verses 1-13)

Importance of Memorizing and Reciting Surah Ya-sin
http://seekersguidance.org/ans-blog/2012/01/19/the-benefits-of-reciting-surah-yasin/

Introduction

  1.  What does Ya-Sin Mean?
    Answer : Ya-sin is Huruf-e-muqattaat – The disjointed letters.
A large number of scholarly books have been written over the centuries on the possible meanings and the probable significance of these disjointed letters – the muqatta’at. Opinions have been numerous but without a final conclusion.
There is no reliable report of Prophet Muhammad [saw] having used such expressions in his ordinary speech, or his having thrown light on its usage in the Qur’an. More importantly, none of his companions seemed to have asked him about it.
These letters are usually used in the Qur’an when one needs to pay attention. The Arabs knew these letters but didn’t know them in this fashion and it caught their attention. Only Allah [swt] knows what their true meaning is.
  2. In the Mushaf Surah Ya-sin follows Surah Saba (34) and Surah Faatir (35)
  3. Surah Ya-sin is numbered 36 in the mushaf and consists of 83 Verses.
  4. Surah Ya-sin is a Meccan Surah.
  5. The Surah Focuses on 3 main aspects of Imaan
    a) Tawhid (the Oneness of Allaah)
    b) Risalah (Messengership of Muhammad salallahu aleyhi wasallam, that he is a messenger sent by Allaah to guide all of creation and he receives divine revelation)
    c) And the reality of the al-aakhirah and what will be encountered therein.

Names of Allah Learnt

1. Al-Azeez/ Al Aziz – The Victorious/ The Exalted in Might / The Almighty
2. Ar – Rahman – All Compassionate / The Most Merciful

10 Arabic Words Memorized

1. Mursaleen – The Messengers.
2. Ala – On.
3. Tanzila – A revelation.
4. Qawman – A People.
5. Ghafiloon – (are) Heedless.
6. Laqad – Certainly.
7. Fi – On.
8. Min – Before them.
9. Bayni – Before them.
10. Saddan – A barrier.

Gist

The Surah begins with “Ya-sin” which in the Qur’an is Allah’s way of calling for or drawing attention towards something important. We are told that the Qur’an is full of wisdom and the Prophet salallahu aleyhi wasallam is reassured that he is from the messengers on a straight path.
Allah attributes and links the revelation to His names of Might and Mercy.
Qur’an is a guidance for those whose forefathers were not warned and hence they are unaware. Then it is instructed how some people will remain heedless about the guidance and warning of Qur’an because there are shackles over their necks and chins.
Glad tidings are announced for those who believe in the unseen. Allah tells us that he has recorded all our good and evil deeds in a clear book. In the 13th verse example from the past is presented.
